- Describe goals of activity, both for served agency and serving
group
-
Provide communications support to the DCSAR at check points.
- Did the event fulfill the goals?
-
Yes.
-
In past years D24 ARES has not been involved with this event.
The DCSAR has worked this event in the past but have found that
when a call for a member to leave a check point occurred, no
communications where left at the check point. D24 ARES was asked
to provide communications support.
- What went well
-
All members ID's correctly with tactical and amateur call signs.
Exchanges were crisp and timely. Amateur radio stations were able
to communicate in locations where the DCSAR communications were
lacking or marginal.
- Areas needing improvement
-
At the pre-briefing it was decided that our base camp operator
would have a DCSAR member to act as runner to interface with race
officials. However, once the event unfolded the DCSAR member was
not available. Hence the base camp operator was periodically away
from the radio delivering message to race officials.
- Lessons learned
-
Provide an assistant or runner for the lead station regardless
of other none ARES officials are assigned.
- Additional training needed
- General comments
-
Further contacts will occur with DCSAR to formalize a working
relationship between ARES and Search and Rescue.
