Comm. support for 170 mile running relay race in Park County. In an area that lacked any other type of communications. we had 4 mobile and 2 fix stations. The fixed stations were our telephone contact with 911 if needed and contacts with race HQ.

We would have be able to call 911 if needed. We were able to pass traffic to race HQ as they were able to pass traffic to us at the exchanges
911 was not needed. There were some problems show up, like the teams vans leaving runners behind. 2 lost runners. Our communications helped to correct the problems. All went fairly well and an NCS was not needed, till the repeater went down. Then 1 mobile took over as NCS and relay on simplex.
I gave out phone numbers of the race HQ to the mobiles, that lead to a discussion about phone numbers. That should have been given to the fix station only. Less repeating of same word. More infomation was given out than was needed, but this was a relaxed activity.
Have a back up simplex Freq. just in case the only repeater in the area goes down.
