24-Apr-1997 14 April 1997 Winter Storm A major winter storm dumped several feet in some areas of Colorado Springs, prompting city emergency officials to call upon ARES to provide emergency transportation.
20-Feb-1997 14 Colorado Springs Terrorist Exercise 97 This exercise, involving the American Red Cross and the City of Colorado Springs, involved the simulated release of a nerve agent (Sarin) at the U.S. Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. This was followed by the simulated explosion of a bomb near the Symposium on the scale of the Oklahoma City incident.
